David J. Bachrach,
Physician Executive's Coach, Inc.
David Bachrach has more than 47 years of experience,
including service as a senior executive in several
physician-led academic health care organizations,
including the University of Michigan Medical School and
the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He
has held concurrent faculty appointments, most recently
as Professor of Health Services Management at M. D.
Anderson. He holds a BA in Psychology and an MBA in
Health Services Management and Hospital Administration
and is a Fellow in both the American College of Medical
Practice Executives and the American College of
Bachrach has served as a leader of
several professional and community organizations. He
served as Chair of the American College of Medical
Practice Executives during 2002-2003. In 2007 he was
awarded MGMA/ACMPEs Harry J. Harwick Award for Lifetime
Achievement in Healthcare Administration.
His academic interests over the past 25
years have focused on the development of physician
executive's leadership skills. To that end he took a
sabbatical from his own executive responsibilities to
pursue the question, “How can we better select and
develop physician leaders in our academic medical
centers?” This led to several publications and a
decision to create a fulltime practice coaching
physicians in developing exceptional leadership skills.
The Physician Executive's Coach, Inc.,
founded in September 1998 and based in Boulder,
Colorado, has provided leadership coaching support to
more than 60 physician leaders at some of the nation’s
leading academic medical centers. Bachrach continues to
speak about physician leadership issues to professional
organizations and publishes articles on the subject
several times each year and has published more than 25
articles and book chapters and co-edited a published
text on Faculty Practice Plans.
David and Linda Bachrach have been
married since 1969 and have two children; both school
teachers in the New York City area. Linda Bachrach has
had a career in higher education fund raising and served
for five years as a consultant advising people of wealth
on philanthropy and assisting small non-profit
organizations with their fundraising endeavors.
Linda is now serves as the Principal of My PrimeTime
Coach, LLC; a
Life Coach working with men and women in transition to
an enriched life in their prime time years (ages 55-75).
